(A More Complete Martial Art)
There are different “styles” of Karate. Our primary style is Shotokan which is noted as being one of the most powerful & effective Karate styles for self defence. Shotokan was introduced to Japan by the Okinawan master Gichin Funakoshi; the first Okinawan master to teach full time in Japan. Whereas many newer Japanese based styles have become more competition/sport oriented (a way to measure perceived success), Shotokan retained more of its self-protection approach.
Holistic Karate combines traditional Shotokan with modern reality based training methods, giving you the best combination of battle tested techniques with modern self defence psychology. It also develops mindfulness, self confidence, health & fitness, self esteem, focus, concentration, co-ordination, respect and more.
We provide a very friendly and supportive environment. It is a very methodical “building block” approach to martial arts, teaching basic skills first then gradually and steadily building, refining and adding to those skills. Training is tailored to the individuals needs, capabilities and limitations as not everybody can move the same way!
We have separate classes for adult/teens and for children from 7 to 12 years old in Midsomer Norton and Westfield.
